Here’s the video premiere for “Albuquerque”, the latest single from Boston-based Irish singer-songwriter Bob Bradshaw. Co-written with Scoop McGuire, the song features a warm, melodic bass-line from John Sheeran, over which James Rohr’s tinkling keys and Andy Santospago’s swooning pedal steel provide great musical depth and texture. Bradshaw possesses a wonderful, smooth voice for country music and his tuneful vocal rises and falls in a timeless fashion, following a memorable melody that feels immediately familiar.
Bradshaw says: “‘Albuquerque’ is inspired by the great place-name songs that Jimmy Webb wrote and Glen Campbell recorded: ‘By The Time I Get To Phoenix’, ‘Wichita Lineman’ and ‘Galveston’. It tells of a man driving south from Albuquerque to get away from a woman but who is compelled to turn around at the Mexican border because the woman’s hold on him is too strong.” Indeed, the song really is reminiscent of those classic tunes; it’s beautifully crafted and the video focuses on the quality of the players performing together.
“Albuquerque” appears on the forthcoming album “Bob Bradshaw Live In Boston”, a collection that introduces the best of Bradshaw’s work and gives the feel of his accomplished live shows. Look out for the live album on 28th March 2025 – fans of classic country will be able to immerse themselves in these timeless sounds.
