Enjoy the latest single from the legendary Nick Lowe. ‘Jet Pac Boomerang’ is delightfully upbeat, designed to make you tap your feet and get moving. The sound of his guitar, and the layered instruments of Los Straitjackets, is reminiscent of the glorious era of 1960s pop. The uplifting feel is matched by the good-humoured lyrics. The accompanying video showcases a live performance from Lowe and Los Straitjackets, interspersed with animated images.
Lowe says of the song: “I wrote this one while in Osaka, Japan in my hotel room while waiting for a taxi. It sounds like the pre-Beatles era of pop music that I grew up with. Ironically, when our engineer Alex Hall delivered the final mix to me, I was back in Osaka in the same hotel room as when I wrote the song years prior. I suppose everything comes back around much like the song title implies.”
‘Jet Pac Boomerang’ is taken from the brand new Nick Lowe album ‘Indoor Safari’, his first in over a decade. The record features masked American band Los Straitjackets, supporting Lowe on a mixture of new songs, rarities and re-imagined versions of songs previously released as singles. There’s a range of styles, which Lowe relates to his great collaborators: “The Straitjackets like all kinds of music, and are very good, open-minded musicians, apart from being very agreeable people and they also have a sort of punk rock ethos, which, unfortunately, I do too. I’ve tried to shrug it off so many times, but I just can’t get rid of it.” Give it a spin.
I don‘t understand, why Nick Lowe is co-operating with masks wearing idiots!
Los Straitjackets are a rockin’ band who have released music on their own – but have been working alongside Nick Lowe in concert and in the recording studio for a while now – and seeing them live – with Nick – is an unforgettable night of amazing music – great players and a top notch band –
