Video: Nina Yates “Just a Girl”

In the latest video from Nina Yates, she explores what it means to be woman.  The song revolves around a mother who does what it takes to provide for her family, including moonshining.  During the prohibition, woman couldn’t be prosecuted for bootlegging, making it a smart business opportunity.  The sound is spare, the lyrics are intelligently engaging and the vocal is pure and haunting.  The single is taken from her upcoming album, ‘Mama’s Heart’, due out on 30th October.  Such is the quality of her songcraft and performance, it’s hard to believe that this will be her debut full-length release.  Enjoy.
