Video Premiere: Alex Lipinski “Long Way to Go”

Check out the video premiere of Alex Lipinski’s new single ‘Long Way to Go’.  The song leaps straight into powerful percussion and a forceful strum before Lipinski’s melodic voice and echoing backing vocals take us into the mind of a character who is railing against injustice and venting his anger at the world around him.  The highlight of the song is the searing, soaring guitar solo that rises out of the melody; it’s captivating and dramatic.  The song has a real sense of purpose, as Lipinski explains: “It’s a deceptively vicious song, lyrically full of anger, frustration and anxiety.  It deals with a young person growing up in the world of today and thinking what the fuck is going on, what opportunity have I got?  A generation fully feeling the effects of this government, sapped of culture, lost in the headspace of social media, devoid of any worth, purpose or interest in the deeper understanding of things.  There’s a lack of trust, a lack of faith that runs through its veins, yet still the character at the heart of the song hopes they can make it.  By the end of the song there’s a longing to get out, to break the cycle.”

‘Long Way to Go’ is the second single taken from Lipinski’s upcoming album, ‘For Everything Under the Sun’, which is due for release on 6th May 2022.  Previous single, ‘Groundhog’, gained  momentum on the radio with the likes of Frank Skinner and Gary Crowley supporting it and we anticipate that this purposeful song will also engage fans.  The new material is supported by a new band, The Crown Electric, and represents a considerable stylistic change from Lipinski’s previous acoustic work.  In exploring a new direction, Lipinski has been supported by producer Michael Smith, who has collaborated with the likes of Elvis Costello and Wolf Alice.  Enjoy.
