We’re pleased to premiere the debut single from Electric Hero, the solo project of Chris Clarke, former bassist and producer of Danny & The Champs and The Rockingbirds.  Through his former bands, Clarke’s work will be well-known to fans of Americana in the UK.  Now, he’s setting off on an ambitious solo adventure.  His experiences in these bands, alongside his work as Managing Director of London’s celebrated Reservoir Studios, means that Clarke has a range of influences to draw upon in creating something new.

‘Yesterday’s Tomorrows’ is a stirring song that delivers a great groove and some fabulous guitar-work.  There are flourishes of swirling cosmic sounds that make the song distinct from Clarke’s former bands’ output.  Clarke has put together a young band with the intention of creating a fresh sound.  His nephew Elliott features on drums, providing a strong rhythmic foundation for Jamie Alex Pope’s melodic lead guitar.  Ethereal backing vocals come from Celina Liesegang and Steve Huddleston, whose contributions reinforce the cosmic-country influence.

Clarke says of the song: “I’ve been writing or co-writing songs for a number of years now; quite a few appear on albums by Danny & The Champions Of The World.  After I left them in 2020, I decided I wanted to start my own band so I could be at the mercy of my own whims.
My partner comes up with these strange/funny phrases – like calling Sports Direct, Sports 2000.  ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrows’ is one of these. It fitted perfectly with a song I wanted to write about time travel.”  Clarke’s words are thoughtful insightful.  As he looks at the world around him, he reflects that he prefers yesterday’s tomorrows, an intriguing comparison between where we are and where we thought we’d be.

In autumn 2024, we can expect the debut album from Electric Hero, ‘Another Time’, which will feature ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrows’.  One to look forward to.  In the meantime, enjoy ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrows’.
