Check out the brand new single from Frank Viele, the recent winner of the New England Music Award for Act of The Year at the 2024 New England Music Awards. It’s just the latest in a string of accolades over the last few years, including New England Music Awards for Album of the Year, Male Performer of the Year, Songwriter of The Year, and Live Act of The Year. This latest release, ‘Lo-Fi Goodbye’, is a stirring song, upbeat and rocking with a catchy chorus line.
Viele says the song, “…tells the story of a circumstantial breakup where the love strongly remains but life and unspoken self-doubt become a catalyst for a seemingly unexpected goodbye. I wanted the song to sound like Led Zeppelin was recording a James Bond Theme Song.” That’s an ambitious concept and Viele delivers a song with a great groove, powerful guitars and a characterful vocal performance.
Frank Viele keeps busy alongside writing and touring; he has just announced the launch of a new record label, Bigger Beast Records, which is focused on collaboration and nurturing new talent. The project has been partially funded by selling off Viele’s 1,911-piece Funko Pop collection, put together over the years as he toured the USA. The treasured collection was full of memories but Viele is pleased that it has funded something so purposeful and vital for the music community – it’s an opportunity to give back and support others. He says: “What started as something fun to do before sound check grew into a collection of memories and nostalgia and I grew very fond of this collection over the years. But experiencing firsthand all the ups and downs the modern music industry throws at us independent artists, and hearing all of the horror stories from fellow musicians in the community, I felt like I needed to do something to create community, an entity for collaboration, artistic growth, dialogue, and communication.”
‘Lo-Fi Goodbye’ will appear on Connecticut-based Viele’s forthcoming album, ‘The Trouble With Desire’, which is due out on 7th February 2025. It’s a long wait but the well-crafted singles show it’s one to watch out for. Viele says of recording the album: “I went to the motherland, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to work with a pair of producers/songwriters that had made records I essentially worshipped and was humbled by their excitement to work with me. After releasing a few of the songs early from this Muscle Shoals record, the response I’ve gotten has been simply incredible. The handful of singles have already broken a million streams across Spotify and YouTube and have been added to over 20,000 user playlists on Spotify! And now, with this label all put together, I am finally able to properly release this album in full!” Pre-order the album here.
