Video Premiere: Randy Palmer “Somewhere Down the Line”

The new video from Randy Palmer takes us on a railroad journey across he USA, taking in gorgeous landscapes, silhouetted cacti against a star-spangled night sky and places that pioneers made their home out West.  Randy Lewis Brown has created a visual that evokes the same images and feelings delivered by Palmer’s timeless songwriting.  Palmer says of the song: “I’ve always been a daydreamer. This song represents my daydreaming mind. Join the adventure.”  That sense of a journey comes through in Palmer’s fluid, flowing guitar, underpinned by the song’s swaying, foot-tapping rhythms.  With his characterful vocal, Palmer takes us with him on this journey through life and love.

The song is taken from the Texan songwriter’s latest album, ‘Deeper Water’, which is out now on Berkalin Records.  Palmer started writing the album before the pandemic, with the help of well-regarded producer Merel Bregante.  Together, they surmounted the many obstacles in their path and have created a folk-roots record that is raw, heartfelt and steeped in the work of Palmer’s influencers, such as John Denver, Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt.  Aided by fine musicians in the studio, including Dave Pearlman on Dobro and pedal steel and Cody Braun on fiddle and mandolin, Palmer has created a nostalgic album, taking us through reflections on childhood, parenthood and friendship.  It’s honest, authentic songcraft that transports listeners across time and place, locating us in Palmer’s stories and relationships.  Travel with him to the High Plains.  Enjoy.
