Video Premiere: Ten Penny Gypsy “Your True You”

This summer saw the release of the second full-length album, ‘Fugitive Heart’, from Arkansas group Ten Penny Gypsy.  The founding members,  Justin Patterson and Laura Lynn Danley, were supported by CMA-nominated guitarist Buddy Case.  The record was produced by multi-instrumentalist Anthony Crawford, former member of Neil Young’s bands The Shocking Pinks and The International Harvesters.  Crawford also toured with the likes of Dwight Yoakam and Steve Winwood.  A respected figure in the industry, he certainly brings all his know-how and experience to the record.

The album is themed around isolation and separation – particularly relevant right now.  Patterson says of the record: “I don’t think it’s coincidence that these songs came together at this time to form such a poignant collection.  There’s no doubt they belong in 2020, considering how far apart people currently feel from everything and everybody. The distances grew so fast, it was a difficult surprise for many to process.”

Patterson and Danley had performed as solo artists for years before getting together in 2017.  They haven’t looked back.  Their voices flow together and complement one another effortlessly.  The group’s latest single is the last song from the album, the warm, uplifting ‘Your True You’.  It’s hopeful, positive message is just what we need to hear in 2020.  They say: “‘Your True You’ is a song written for a friend who had reached a crossroads on their journey to find their truest expression. We are so excited that it has resonated with audiences across the globe. In gratitude for your support of this song and it’s message, we present the video for ‘Your True You’.”  Enjoy the video premiere here at AUK.
