This gently soothing performance of one of the highlights from recent album ‘The Third Gleam’ was recorded at The Belk Theatre in Charlotte, NC, for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. This live recording is The Avett Brothers’ first single release of 2021, following another triumphant New Year’s Eve show. These have become something of a tradition – this was their 17th – and this New Year’s event was livestreamed to around 150,000 people. Guests included the likes of Willie Nelson, Brandi Carlile and Taylor Goldsmith. This delicate, soothing single gets the year off to a great start for the band. The stripped-back ‘I Go to My Heart’ focuses on the themes of love and redemption that flow through the highly acclaimed ‘The Third Gleam’. Beautiful.
