FIRST WILCO THE SANDWICH SHOP, NOW RYAN THE...
Pitchfork reports: "Last week, we learned about the existence of the Toronto eatery Sky Blue Sky Sandwich Company, a spot where every item on the menu is named after a Wilco tune. But Sky Blue Sky isn't the only restaurant where menu items are named in honor of an alt-country mainstay's body of work.
Reader Josh Wyrick has tipped us off to the existence of the Greensboro, North Carolina pizza place Sticks & Stones Clay Oven, where every menu item is named after a song by North Carolina native Ryan Adams. One more restaurant like this and it's officially a trend.
At Sticks & Stones, a "New York, New York" pizza comes with "tomato sauce, Giacomo's sopressata, arugula, fresh mozzarella, pine nuts, fresh basil, parmesan," and "Heartbreaker" means a classic Caesar salad. Check the menu here.
A little bit of Googling turns up a 2008 article in the North Carolina newspaper The News & Observer that offers an explanation of the menu item names. Cook Sandy Blocker told the newspaper, "That came from a combination of the owner and one of the original chefs we had here. They're big fans of Adams; it's just one of those things. People who know Adams' music get the titles, and the people who don't are oblivious.""
