Cabin Dogs are Rich and Rob Kwait – singer songwriters and twin brothers. The Philadelphia duo have their sixth album ‘On The Creek‘ slated for release on May 12th. They figure that, for all the upsounding tunes the album is somewhat less optimistic than might appear to the casual listener, as Rob Kwait explains “There is a lot of underlying sentiments of loneliness and yearning and time slipping away in these songs… of mortality and do-over. Mid-life themes where you are looking back but still looking forward, kind of caught in the middle. We try to dress the songs in pleasant sounds and colours, but there’s some darkness and dread mixed in.”
‘I Believe In Something‘ is a good example of this – it should be reaching for joy with a title like that but actually it contains a pensive examination of an uncertain circumstance – sure, it seems to ask, one should believe in something but how to tell what that is?
