Well here’s a song to kick-start your Monday morning, the latest release from The Resonant Rogues is taken from their fourth – and at last eponymous – album. It see’s the duo of Keith Josiah Smith and Sparrow pulling in their own life stories on a runaway train of a song that declares that the open road is out there, it can be travelled and although it may be hard sometimes it can be survived. Keith (guitar, vocals) grew up in the punk scene and started hopping trains at the age of 18, riding the rails all over the country and busking for a living. Sparrow (vocals, banjo, accordion) grew up performing everything from music and dance to figure skating, and she was even a circus performer.
The new album was produced by the Andrija Tokic (Hurray For The Riff Raff, Alabama Shakes) at his analog paradise, The Bomb Shelter, in Nashville – and it shows The Resonant Rogues embracing a delicious blend of traditional music, Appalachian old-time, classic country, and vintage soul, and features friends of the band like Sierra Ferrell, Benjamin Tod, The Deslondes’ John James Tourville, and more. The album is released on November 10th.
