Video: Kaleb Hikele “Dive”

Here’s the latest single from Canadian singer-songwriter Kaleb Hikele.  Featuring lovely, fluttering, delicate guitar-work and Hikele’s plaintive voice, ‘Dive’ is a song that is reminiscent of the best folk-rock.  There’s a touch of Gordon Lightfoot or Simon & Garfunkel in the gentle rhythms and subtle melody of the song.  The accompanying video was shot in Hugh’s Room, a folk venue close to Hikele’s home in Toronto.

‘Dive’ has been on rotation on SiriusXM radio’s ‘North Americana’ programme, where it has now had more than a hundred plays.  It’s taken from ‘My Mind is Like a Radio’, Hikele’s 12th studio album.  He recorded and engineered the entire album at his home studio during one spring season. The speed with which the album came together was thanks to a challenging ‘song-per-day’ project in the studio and, given the nature of this endeavour, it’s a great success.

Known for his work as The Sun Harmonic, as well as releasing songs under his own name, the acclaimed songwriter has been putting out music for 20 years.  Indeed, he’s been recognised for his contribution to the industry on Canada’s Walk of Fame.  Enjoy.
