Breakfield “Ever-Loving Mind” – Under love’s heavy burden do I sink

Nashville band Breakfield, who we see here pursued by a Martian War Machine, made the smart move of changing their name from Boy Named Banjo and have followed that smart move up with signing to Rounder Records.  They’ll be releasing their self-titled album on June 12th.  In advance of that, and probably aiming for a few Valentines Day plays, they have released Ever-Loving Mind which finds a protagonist tortured by his overwhelming and all consuming love, an emotional turmoil barely contained by the soothing sounds of the banjo.

We heard from vocalist and banjo player Barton Davies who says of the new single: “The chorus of  Ever-Loving Mind says it all, ” don’t wanna think this through / I wanna dive in headfirst blind.”  We didn’t want to overthink this one in the studio. We knew we had to capture that live, raw energy, so we only gave ourselves one or two takes to put it down together. It’s not perfect, but we like it that way.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
