Jeremy Pinnell’s new album ‘Goodbye L.A.‘ is out on October 1st, and ‘Red Roses‘ is the last single to be released in advance. It’s a song with a touch of nostalgia, and a whole heap of regret as the North Kentucky country rocker mulls over how things have changed, and not for the better. It’s the kind of song that smells of a consoling whisky and the salt of tears.
‘Goodbye L.A.‘ is Pinnell’s third album, following on the well received debut ‘OH/KY‘ and the equally well received ‘Ties of Blood and Affection‘ (long standing Americana UK supporters will remember him from a song on the Americana UK Review September 2017 CD!). And this third album see’s Pinnell deepening the personal element in his song writing.
Jeremy told us his feelings about the song “It’s not easy letting people know what you’re thinking and the realization that love isn’t about feelings. It’s complicated when writing a personal song like this without dragging anyone else into it but also important to be honest and then that bridges the gap between the art and the listener. People long for honesty and sincerity and the only way to do that is to be honest about your own situation.”
In case you’re worried that this is all getting too serious it’s worth noting that Jeremy Pinnell also self-identifies as the pancake king of Northern Kentucky. That’s a big claim which he may have to prove on his next UK tour.
