Bubbles Brown (probably not the name his mother knew him by) is a multi-instrumentalist – banjo, guitar, harmonica – and also one half of the duo of the same name with Washboard Ben. We’ll leave it to your imagination what Washboard Ben plays. Together the Chicago duo combine a love of blues, folk, soul, and country into a distinctive blend of retro-sounding music that could have blown out of some early 20th century dustbowl. Having honed their sound busking on street corners and subway platforms Bubbles Brown have progressed to recording and playing some major stages, including opening for a latter-day version of The Doors.
Bubbles Brown have a new album, their second, out this spring – it’s called ‘Blood Harmony‘ and you can catch a taste of what it will be like from today’s premiere of ‘Bless this Mess.‘
