Album Preview: Abby K “The Whole Truth”

Seattle-based singer-songwriter Abby K has a new album out this Friday, called ‘The Whole Truth‘ which we’re previewing right here on Americana UK.  After a lifetime living east of the Mississippi Abby K moved to the Pacific Northwest arriving with a desire to embrace the vibrant music scene with nothing but her guitar and a handful of songs.

It’s all worked out well – as Abby K was able to find willing hands to support her new project, ‘The Whole Truth‘, an album that has come together as a 100% women only undertaking.  Local musicians including such noteworthy figures as Lydia Ramsey helped turn Abby K’s acoustic songs into full band renditions.  Speaking of her motivation for the album Abby K has said  “Discovering truth is downright scary and disorienting. Confronting truth is empowering and bold. Understanding truth leads to peace.  Working with women felt safe, and in that safety, I was able to tell my truths.”

A little bit folk, a whole chunk rootsy-Americana, we present ‘The Whole Truth‘.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
