Amy Speace “Where Did You Go” – I thought I knew you

You don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to decipher the topic of this latest single from Amy Speace’s new album ‘The American Dream‘ which is released on 18th October.  Amy gives a concise background to the song, saying “This is a song that Neilson [Hubbard] and I wrote in my East Nashville house, while Huck was at school. We wrote it in about an hour. It just spilled out. All the things I was feeling about my marriage. Neilson’s the perfect songwriting partner for those moments, as he captures them in groove and music.

It’s a dramatic song – heightened by the tension in the string section – and it sounds as Amy Speace has described, like an honest outpouring of all the thoughts that a dissolving marriage might generate, sung with passion and for sure regrets, and anger.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
