Bicentennial Drug Lord “This Pabst Blue Ribbon” – what made Milwaukee famous…

Bicentennial Drug Lord is quite a provocative band name – sounds like some retro-psychedelic band or maybe a Indie rock combo.  In fact, as today’s song demonstrates, they are a band who can do both kinds of music – honky and tonking.  However, in general the band that’s fronted by Rick Donner, would rather describe themselves as embracing that Midwestern rock and roll drive that propelled contemporaries like The Jayhawks and Wilco. Their new LP, ‘You Are Never Alone’, releases the 20th of June on Upstate New York’s Vfib Records.

On ‘This Pabst Blue Ribbon‘ Bicentennial Drug Lord make, once more, the classic comparison of the reliability of a lover and the reliability of a particular beer and, as usual, find the beer to be the more dependable of the two.  Although both are hard to forget about.

To be factual we should note that despite originating in Milwaukee, the brewing company is now based in Texas, whilst the beer itself is brewed in California.  And Australia.  It’s popular in Canada, apparently, although…that may not be strictly true right now…

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
