Billy Wilder “Roar of the Wild” – Listen

Billy Wilder is the band name, and the songwriting driving force behind the band is Avi Salloway.  This track comes from the album ‘Strike the Match‘, which hit the ground at the end of last year.  ‘Roar of the Wild‘ is a reflection on  the stark beauty of the desert, and surely draws inspiration from Salloway’s time touring with the Tuareg guitar hero Bombino, listen to thos opening words “went walking in the desert / with just my shoes /made me a headdress / I danced with my muse“.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
