Charlie Castell “My America” – Keeping America Progressive

We don’t really expect to have any great influence on the upcoming mass voting opportunity, but obviously we have something of an interest in what American musicians have to say about the event.  There’s a lot of worry, that’s clear, about the way the young country is going.

Charlie Castell sort of crystalizes anything we might say in his new album ‘Beautiful Apocalypse.’   Written amidst turbulent political climates and mounting calls for change, ‘Beautiful Apocalypse’ aims to captures the pulse of now, inviting audiences to consider topics from taking on issues such as political corruption, religious hypocrisy, climate change disinformation, and gun violence.

First single ‘My America‘ paints an alternative vision – one of people working together to create a beacon of hope, one that embraces democracy and acknowledges its roots as a nation built through immigrants, a country that “builds bridges not walls.”  Sounds nice.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
