Don’t be late to the Grateful Dead’s party

It is, at last, November once again and so we can all collectively celebrate that once a year season of Goodwill toward All Mankind – we speak of nothing less than the Grateful Dead’s annual act of charity – 30 Days of November.

What’s that, you ask?  Why ’tis a wondrous thing – the release on a daily basis starting on November 1st and finishing on November 30th of a downloadable previously unavailable Grateful Dead song recorded in concert.  So far there’s been a funky 18-minute version of ‘Shakedown Street‘, a snappy ‘Loose Lucy‘ and a frantic 13 minutes of ‘Let it Grow‘.  Pretty neat.  You can hear it all here.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
