Ewan MacColl “A Man’s A Man For A’ That” – rank is but the guinea’s stamp

Why would we be thinking of Burns this Friday?  Oh, who knows?  For some reason though we couldn’t help but recall:

“For a’ that, an’ a’ that,
Their dignities, an’ a’ that,
The pith o’ Sense an’ pride o’ Worth
Are higher rank than a’ that.”

And since we’re a music site after all it seems only appropriate to listen to the words of Robert Burns as sung by Ewan MacColl.

It’s comin yet for a’ that,
That Man to Man the warld o’er
Shall brithers be for a’ that .

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
