Prolific voice actress and singer-songwriter Grey DeLisle has scheduled the release of her latest record “The Grey Album” on 4th April 2025 via Hummin’bird Records.

DeLisle endured a long songwriting dry spell while concentrating on her career as one of Hollywood’s top voice actors (The Simpsons, Scooby-Doo, SpongeBob) and mother of three children. Her muse returned in the early days of the pandemic and she set about recording them with her longtime creative partner Murry Hammond (Old 97’s).

Working with producer Marvin Etzioni and an array of great performers including strings by Tammy Rogers (Emmylou Harris, Neil Diamond, Patty Loveless), horns by David Ralicke (Lucinda Williams, Beck, Morrissey, John Cale) and pedal steel by Greg Leisz, all separately contributed their parts with the recordings being sent round to the musicians to add their contributions. Other collaborators added over the five years it took to bring “The Grey Album” to fruition included the Runaways’ Cherie Currie and the Long Ryders’ Stephen McCarthy.

The first single from the album, ’40 Something Runaway’ is due to be released this Friday (31st January 2025).  In the meantime, listen below to ‘Mama’s Little Rose’, a song from last year’s excellent “Driftless Girl” of which AUK’s Viv Fish wrote: “This is a fascinating and bold album—a contemporary step back in time. At times, DeLisle could easily be mistaken for Dolly Parton, with her forthright, raw, country attitude and well-written narrative songs”.

DeLisle will be playing a short run of UK dates in February 2025, accompanied by Jonny Bowler – see the itinerary below. A more extensive European run of shows, backed by Eddie Clendening and the Blue Ribbon Boys, is set to follow from mid to late June.
