It would be an exaggeration to say that today’s song by Jack Bessant couldn’t be further from his recordings as bassist in Reef. It could be further – but it’s still a sizable difference from a best-selling rock band to guitar and harmonica troubadour. And yet, that’s what we have.
It comes from a relatable place though, as Jack Bessant explains “I love going camping and surfing, taking just one guitar and one harmonica and getting a vibe across without having to take loads of complicated equipment, and that’s part of the process ,” he explains. “ I have a lovely family, want to travel a bit, do some gigs here and there and live a little. This is the journey that I’m on and you don’t always want it to be the same, you want to flow. ”
‘Slow Burning Angel’ can be found on Jack’s new album ‘Lucky Mountain’, which came out on CHEDX Records / High Head Recordings in August.
