Jack Bessant “Slow Burning Angel” – Listen

It would be an exaggeration to say that today’s song by Jack Bessant couldn’t be further from his recordings as bassist in Reef.  It could be further – but it’s still a sizable difference from a best-selling rock band to guitar and harmonica troubadour.  And yet, that’s what we have.

It comes from a relatable place though, as Jack Bessant explains “I love going camping and surfing, taking just one guitar and one harmonica and getting a vibe across without having to take loads of complicated equipment, and that’s part of the process ,” he explains. “ I have a lovely family, want to travel a bit, do some gigs here and there and live a little. This is the journey that I’m on and you don’t always want it to be the same, you want to flow.

‘Slow Burning Angel’ can be found on Jack’s new album ‘Lucky Mountain’, which came out on CHEDX Records / High Head Recordings in August.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
