Jesse Malin “Tall Black Horses” – Don’t go breaking his heart

A new song from Jesse Malin, ‘Tall Black Horses’ is taken from Malin’s first double album of his career, “Sad And Beautiful World, which will be released September 24 through Wicked Cool Records, alongside a European tour across September / October that will feature nine UK shows, including London’s Garage on Friday, October 8.  It’s a song which leans heaviest on the sad part of that album title – although Jesse Malin sees a flash of hope in it, saying: “Tall Black Horses’ is about taking your worst fears and insecurities and owning them, conquering them, without fear and regret.”  It’s a theme he expanded on “My music has always been about rebirth and redemption, this album is for those who pick up the pieces and find beauty in the madness.”  Naturally enough Jesse Malin wrote and recorded the album in 2020 and 2021 as an antidote to the chaos outside his apartment in New York City.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?

Years ago Jesse Malin was earmarked for great things, sort of faded after the initial interest but every record he’s released is worthy of your cash.
