John Stewart “Wild Horse Road” – Listen

Can it really be ten years since John Stewart left this mortal plane? Hard to credit.  John Stewart was one of the voices of Americana – before it was Americana.  If you know John Stewart you know that – if you don’t know John Stewart then you’re missing out.  “There ain’t no wild horses out on Wild Horse Road / There ain’t no wild horses here I know .  Somewhere they’re trucking Mustangs on a lonesome desert road”.  Yeah.  John Stewart.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?

Great song…great voice

A truly GREAT American and Americana artist BUT you must listen to ALL his Discography to ‘get it’ i.e the breadth of his songwriting and consistency of performance are hard to match.Sadly his later releases on his own HOMECOMING RECORDS label, a superb ’boutique label’; for his latter day ‘LA Smooth Americana artistes was hardly advertised and is choc full of ESSENTIAL Americana nuggets from newer artists who fully deserve to be ‘discovered’. Leave these out at your peril and search out-[1] Homecoming Records Sampler[2) The Last Campaign (himself) [3) Heriza -Ford *(Beautiful female duets)..YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Much missed artist with a truly excellent discography!!!!
