Little Quirks “Maybelle” – we gotta get out of this place

Australia’s Little Quirks have been successful enough with their folk-pop energy to get themselves signed to Glassnote Records, making them stablemates of one of their main inspirations Mumford & Sons.  And on today’s song it’s easy to hear why – with dynamic upbeat rhythms and vocal harmonizing to the fore.  It’s a spirit lift packed into three minutes.

Little Quirks is a family band – sisters Mia and Abbey and their cousin Jaymi – who started playing for fun with a little busking on the side and then got more serious about it.  There’s a touch of The Staves or even First Aid Kit to the band’s vocal sound – but also a high-energy input that’s all their own. ‘Maybelle‘ is taken from the band’s new EP ‘Call To Unknowns‘ which is out August 25th.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
