M. Ward “You’ve Changed” – Listen

‘You’ve Changed’ is the first song released from M.Ward’s upcoming album ‘Think of Spring’, which will be released on ANTI- on December 13th.  It’s an album of covers of songs recorded by Billie Holiday.  The album – just Ward and an acoustic guitar is something of a passion project.

As M.Ward details, the album comes out of a long admiration for Billie Holiday “I first heard ‘Lady In Satin’ in a mega-shopping mall somewhere in San Francisco.  I was about 20 years old and didn’t know much about Billie’s records or her life or how her voice changed over the years. Anyway, the sound was coming from the other side of the mall and I remember mistaking her voice for a beautiful perfectly distorted electric guitar – some other-world thing floating there on this strange mournful ocean of strings and I was hooked for life.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
