Michelle Malone wants you all to know that she’s aware that she did all those things – every one of them: “I said it, regret it, I did it, I thought it, I took it, I smoked it, I stole it, I bought it, I threw it, I broke it, I left it, I caused so much hurt.” Not that she’s at all proud of that, far from it in fact: “Yes, I’m to blame, but we all have our faults, my current perspective, all I can do is forgive, I did what I did and I wouldn’t again, I’m sorry I said it, and it cost me friends, It almost killed me and yes, that was me at my worst.” I think we can call that an apology, to be accepted or not.
Michelle Malone has a new album out, ‘Southern Comfort‘ and it’s a title that resonates with this thirty years in the roots rock music business singer, as she says: “I’m very much a southerner this whole record was written, recorded, and performed by southerners, and you can hear it. There’s rock, country, and folk here. There’s swagger. Southern Comfort isn’t about booze; it’s about a feeling, a family, a familiarity – all the things that make you feel warm and fuzzy. For me, that’s Georgia.”
