My Girl The River “Information Highway” – let’s head off grid…

This is the latest, just released, single from Americana UK regulars My Girl The River – of whom we’d hope you’re familiar by now.  But if not – the band is fronted by UK based Louisiana native Kris Wilkinson on vocals and acoustic guitar with her partner and bassist Joe Hughes and musical contributions from their daughter Rue.  The music is somewhere around where American folk-rock meets country-rock.

Kris has this to say about the song: “With Tom Petty’s ‘Mary Jane’s Last Dance’ and The Wallflowers ‘One Headlight’ as my reference tracks during recording, this song deals with the dark side of social media and the internet – once called the Information Highway. Wishing to turn off, getting lost. It can be a dangerous place. An escape off road takes you to the original information highway – connection with people and nature. Enjoy a full band sound, featuring Ben Smith (of Smith & Brewer) on guitar and lap steel. Irresistible hooks and ‘A Day in The Life’ chaos ending. Produced by myself and of course Joe on bass and our teen Rue on harmonies. It’s a real retro 70s vibe with a modern day message.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
