Reylta “Lucifer’s Love” – Devilish passions

Folk singer Reylta is originally from Galway, and is currently based in Dublin.  ‘Lucifer’s Love‘ is her latest single and has been released in both English and Gaeilge versions – the latter as ‘Leannán an Diabhail.‘  It’s a song that imagines Lucifer falling in love – proper love, not some evil perversion of love, with a mortal.  This takes a story from Irish tradition of storytelling, following the mythical tale of doomed love between the devil and a mortal who is condemned to hell for their passion, and gives it a modern makeover.

Reylta says of the song: “‘Lucifer’s Love’ tells the unusual story of the intimate relationship between good and evil. When there is love and light in us, life becomes brighter. Be merciful, forgive your past, and work with it to attract a better future.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
