While Americana UK does not regularly report on the world of bluegrass, we do when it’s the new Robbie Fulks album. The icon has announced their latest album ‘Bluegrass Vacation’ will be released on April 7th on Compass Records. His 2016 record ‘Upland Stories‘ was nominated for a Grammy for Best Folk Album, and the song ‘Alabama at Night’ was nominated for a Grammy for Best American Roots Song. This album was written after his move to LA and is his first completely bluegrass offering. Fulk’s latest in a thirty-year career includes the recently released single ‘One Glass of Whiskey’ and features some big names in the genre; Wes Corbett joins on banjo, Ronnie McCoury plays the mandolin, and Chris Eldridge guests on guitar. Other tracks on the upcoming album are enhanced by a long list of Nashville’s finest session musicians and artists, such as Sam Bush, Sierra Hull, Ronnie McCoury, Tim O’Brien, Alison Brown, John Cowan, and Jerry Douglas.

Of his work’s bluegrass turn, Fulks said: “Electric guitars might give way to computers, as seems to be happening now, but the mountains will still be right there.”. The album will be available on signed and standard vinyl, cd, and your favourite streaming platform. You can pre-order the album directly from the record label’s website.
