It is with deep regret that we have to note that another great musician has left us. Sharon Jones, backed by The Dap Kings, was one of the major artists of Dap-Tone Records producing a series of albums which delivered on a promise to make deeply moving and authentically soulful music in the 21st century. An incredibly powerful singer on record, and a performer who never gave less than all she had even during her treatment for cancer over the last several years. It’s hard to believe that we’ll ever hear again someone who packed such a combination of gospel soul and vibrant rhythm and blues sensibilities.
Let’s remember her at her best – delivering a song at hurricane force, blowing her audience away. She was a force of nature, and a very special musician.
