Well that’s it from us for another week dear reader. I can’t let this week pass by without mentioning the ‘Mark and Kyle’ song which we ran earlier today, written by my good friend Drew Danburry and his band Icarus Phoenix over in the US. It’s been a magical experience really hearing a song about the journey with my adopted son from demo form turned into something fully fledged and out there in the wild. Drew and I have only ever met once in person, in my reckless days of youthful abandon when I used to put on house gigs, but it’s been a relief for me that one of the nicest people I’ve ever met through this gig has also turned out to be one whose music I deeply resonate with. Although my good Catholic upbringing taught me to be racked with guilt every time I talk about myself (the ego!) I can’t thank him enough.
Anyway, moving on from the acceptance speech – we leave you this week with a track from new Americana artist Shaboozey who has recorded one song you’ll almost certainly have heard but who played a fabulous set at Glastonbury last weekend and who is destined to become a big name in the genre. The sentiment of needing to hear just a little good news feels entirely apt for this week.
Take care everyone, don’t forget Palestine , and keep fighting the fascists. On that note, I’m also sharing this week an important video below from Double Down News on the government’s decision to ban a non-violent direct action group trying to stop a genocide, a government of course which is aiding and abetting a genocide. If you’ve never seen George Monbiot sounding blazing mad, then prepare yourself – anger which is entirely justified of course. If I get nicked for sharing it, please be nice to Jon our Deputy Editor. Have a good one.
