Carter Sampson announces October/November tour dates

Carter Sampson burst onto the European Americana scene with the release of her album ‘Wilder Side’ in 2016 and the six follow up tours within the year of release. She’s making that seven now with the release of her album ‘Lucky’ last year (which we gave a glowing 9 to, describing it as “Sampson’s best album to date, and one of the best Americana albums of the year so far”) preceding a tour this autumn which will take her to the Netherlands, England and Scotland. Oklahoma’s Carter Sampson is no stranger to these shores. Her trademark red boots have graced many a UK music venue over the past few years. This was the opening night of her UK tour promoting her  brand new album ‘Lucky,’ and  the healthy Glad Café crowd took to their seats in anticipation of the latest show from a very welcome return visitor. Carter Sampson to tour the UK with two album releases

Carter Sampson burst onto the European Americana scene in 2016 with the release of her album ‘Wilder Side.’ It created such a stir here and in Europe that as a result, in the first year after the release, the Queen of Oklahoma spent almost as much time in Europe as in her home state. The follow up album to ‘Wilder Side,’ ‘Lucky,’ is due for general release on 25th May and Carter will be returning to the UK to promote the album. Kilkenny Roots Festival, 28th April – 1st May 2017, Kilkenny, Ireland

This was the second time your intrepid reporter has attended the annual celebration of all things good in Roots and Americana music that’s held in the beautiful city of Kilkenny in Ireland and now that it’s done and dusted, I can only scratch my head and wonder why only twice? Arriving on the Friday afternoon the first stop was Cleeres bar and on entering a pint of the local ale was thrust into my hand amidst many welcoming cries. It’s that kind of weekend. Folk I’d met once before at last year’s fest instantly said hello, some were veterans who have been attending since the nineties, some fellow newbies and soon we were all perusing the festival programme and working out our itineraries.
