Ryan Adams has been sharing clips of new songs from his forthcoming album ‘Big Colors’ which is due in April. In a series of video clips with a kind of retro theme, fans can hear tracks from the album (or bits of them) including ‘Dreaming You Backwards’, ‘Showtime’, and ‘Summer Rain’. which features Bob Mould no less. Here they are: Continue reading “Ryan Adams posts Instagram teasers for new album”

Ryan Adams releases new single “F*ck the Rain” – Listen

We have no problem with the word “F*ck” – we’ll say it lower down this article – but realise our Mailmunch daily update might plonk a NSFW email in lots of people’s inboxes, hence the temporary reversion to Mary Whitehouse (ask your dad) style piousness.  Continue reading “Ryan Adams releases new single “F*ck the Rain” – Listen”

Ryan Adams announces UK tour dates

Well this is good news – inspired obviously by our story we posted last week reminding Ryan Adams of the time he fell off the stage and broke his arm during a gig, he has announced details of a UK tour which hits our shores in April, just in time for armegeddon.    Continue reading “Ryan Adams announces UK tour dates”

Ryan Adams debuts new song “Manchester”

Ryan Adams has debuted a new song from his forthcoming album ‘Big Colors’ – the track entitled “Manchester” starts with the line “Oldham streets/Built to bruise/Freckled face/And a pair of shuffling shoes”. Ryan Adams singing about Oldham – imagine. XS Manchester premiered the track, and Adams said: “Manchester, the city and music of this mystical place shaped my entire life. It is at the heart of all the things I love about music from The Smiths, Joy Division, Oasis, New Order, Simply Red and The Stone Roses. I wanted to make sure this song ‘Manchester’ played first and only in this city I love so much. I hope you enjoy this and cannot wait to be back soon.” You might love Manchester Ryan but did it give you a broken arm like Liverpool? We always go the extra mile.

Update: This track now seems to have disappeared so instead enjoy the other new track from his forthcoming album, ‘Doylestown Girl’:

Three new Ryan Adams albums on the way this year

There was a time in years gone by when we used to write about Ryan Adams on AUK as much as we do about Neil Young now. He was our go-to guy, partly because he was always doing something interesting (like falling off stage mid-set here in Liverpool and breaking an arm) and partly because he was releasing records like they were part of a quarterly subscription service. Anyway, old times are back it seems, as Adams tweeted yesterday: Continue reading “Three new Ryan Adams albums on the way this year”

New Ryan Adams stuff on the way, possibly lots of it

An interesting story up on Consequence of Sound this morning where they mull over the various Ryan Adams going on at the moment. As they note,  “Ryan Adams dropped two new songs over the last few weeks, both related to Colorado media outlets. The first was a tribute to radio station 105.5 The Colorado Sound, while the second was penned in exchange for a weather forecasting gig for news channel Denver 7. Adams is apparently still very much in the giving spirit, as today he took to Twitter to tease the release of more than four different projects, including 17 all-new songs as well as his long-lost Blackhole album. Ryan Adams gives shout out to Colarado media (again)

This is rather endearing. Paste report this morning: “Rather than crafting new heartbreak ballads or covering hit Taylor Swift albums, Ryan Adams has lately turned his musical genius towards the muse that is the independent media of Colorado. Last week, Adams shared a new song dedicated to regional radio station “105.5 The Colorado Sound,” and on Tuesday he highlighted Colorado media yet again, this time penning a song for Westword, an alternative newspaper based in Denver. You can listen to the track, which is encrypted only in Westword’s published love letter to the song, right here. The newspaper’s write-up also breaks down almost every lyric in the song, unpacking the local and regional nuggets left behind by Adams. Ryan Adams sings on “The Voice” Finale – Watch

If you can bear to sit through any of a finale of the Voice then this four minutes will at least prove that our Transatlantic partners get a much better deal than us. This week, Ryan Adams joined finalist and fellow North Carolinan Britton Buchanan to perform his ‘To Be Without You’ taken off his 2017 album ‘The Prisoner.’ Buchanan actually cites Whiskeytown as one of his influences – sadly he came second which in the world of americana feels just about noble and right.

Daniel Meade “When Was The Last Last Time” (Button Up Records, 2018)

Daniel Meade is many things but never dull. He’s been around in one form or another it seems forever, so prolific and varied is his work. Generally, that work would consist of rootsy music set to country beats but he has been known to deviate. It’s fair to say that’s the case with his latest release and this time he’s foregone that western flavour in favour of a more ballsy approach. Ryan Adams releases Valentine’s Day single online – Listen

Ryan Adams has a shot of V-Day love for the world this year with the release of a special Valentine’s Day single today. ‘Baby I Love You’ is exactly what it sounds like: a song to someone’s baby (colloquial as opposed to small child, although it might work either way) who they love—a unique twist on Ryan Adams’ classic recipe, with key ingredient “sad” replaced by “happy.”  Head over to the Pax Am website for more info.
