The Infamous Stringdusters “Dancing On The Moon” – step lightly

Those purveyors of progressive bluegrass, The Infamous Stringdusters, declare that “it feels like a good night for dancing on the moon” on this new song of the same title as the declared intent. But is it? Let’s assume that you are not currently on the moon – how are you going to get there? Within the confines of reality and currently available technology, you’re looking at four days of travel, assuming you have a Saturn V or similar, all prepped to go. And when you get there, presumably some music will be nice, but it’ll have to be recorded and piped through a comm’s system built into the space suit helmet. And those suits, reasonably flexible – but not really designed for strutting one’s stuff. It’s all looking a bit iffy, to be honest with you.

However, we can (perhaps) put all this aside when we consider this explanation about the song: “We co-wrote this song with two of our favourite songwriters, Jon Weisberger and Josh Shilling,” says vocalist & fiddle player, Jeremy Garrett, It’s a light-hearted song about falling in love.” Oh, well, that’s alright then. I guess.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
