‘The Twang Factor’ presents: West on Colfax

There has been much discussion in recent times about the demise of the traditional band as a vehicle for making music and particularly performing live music. Those putting forward such arguments point to the costs involved in performing as a band, set against ever-decreasing returns. At ‘The Twang Factor’ we have seen this borne out by the very small number of band entries that have come in. It was therefore particularly pleasing to hear from West on Colfax, not just because they are a band, but because they are a damn fine one too. Hailing from various parts of Lancashire, the band are actually a five-piece, although perform here as a four-piece as in keeping with the times, one of their number was self-isolating at the time of recording.

The band have recently released their first album ‘Barfly Flew By’ on Greenhorse Records and have offered a free download code for the album as a prize if you can identify the six artists and one band that they refer to in ‘Stars’ the song featured in their video. Answers or other enquiries to greenhorserecords@icloud.com, the band’s Facebook page is here and the album is available (at a very reasonable price) as a download or CD via Bandcamp here.

We are still looking for new acts to appear on ‘The Twang Factor’ Interested? – click on this link to find out how to apply.

From buying my first record aged 10 and attending my first gig at 14, music has been a lifelong obsession. My idea of a perfect day would be a new record arriving in the post in the morning, watching Ipswich Town win in the afternoon followed by a gig and a pint with my mates at night,
