Dublin-born/ L.A. based songwriter Colin Devlin is gearing up to release his sophomore LP ‘High Point’ on Friday, which is produced by Pierre Marchand (Sara McLachlan, Rufus Wainright), and he’s shared this beautiful little track from it. Colin told AUK: “‘Water’ has a sense of longing, and perhaps regret too, in both the lyrics and the music… wanting someone, or something so much that they or it ultimately slips through your hands. I think this is an emotion and a feeling that many can relate to… It started out as a very cinematic arrangement, like a Portishead song with a Hans Zimmer feel! But ultimately that didn’t feel so real for Pierre and myself. We wanted to take a simpler, more humble approach to the vibe and instrumentation of the arrangement; it grounds the song in a beautiful way for me now, I feel.”
