Craig Gerdes has that low rumbling growl of a voice that, coupled with his songs and their arrangements can’t help but bring that Outlaw sound to mind. He’s opened for the likes of Tyler Childers and with around 150 shows a year being his normal he also knows about the on-the-road life, a knowledge which he has brought to bear on today’s premiere “Only the Road Knows“.
Craig Gerdes has a new album ‘Tough As Nails‘ out on April 3rd, from which this song is taken and he’s said that “There’s definitely a lot of the road in this record. I love moving—that part of travelling where you’re actually rolling down the highway. It’s when we feel most at home. Things are just different—your sleep patterns and your mindset change. But the thing I love the most about being on the road is meeting different forms and facets of people—talking with them and hearing their stories about where they come from and what they do. I find that intriguing. So there’s a lot of that in this record, too. The title track and the album, when you boil ‘em down—that’s what it’s about. We wanted to speak to the people.”
