The core of Lost On The Metro are Jilly and David Morey – multi-lingual married couple, high school teachers and passionate world travellers. And, obviously, musicians. They are soon to release a new EP entitled ‘Resonance and Regrets‘ and the lead single ‘Breaking Wheel‘ leans into that regrets part of the Ep title being based, as it is, on a relationship of Jilly Morey’s that became toxic for her. Not an obvious topic to co-write a song about with your husband of many years but as Jilly reflects “It’s the coolest thing when your husband of 26 years gives you the space to sing about things that hurt. The process brings us closer. He always comes up with intensely beautiful riffs that complement my poetry.”
Lost on the Metro are on something of a roll right now – they released a debut album in 2021, ‘Letters and Landlines’, the 2023 five-song EP, ‘Buried Bones‘, and a series of singles. Part of their uptick in creativity has come from coalescing around a solid quintet format for their melodically driven rock – with lead guitarist, Chris Dunn, Josh Bayless on drums, keyboard, and backing vocals, and Lucan Stone on bass and backing vocals. In previous times the rhythm section were both taught by Jilly Morey.
