Rebecca Frazier certainly has her Bluegrass credentials – as the first woman to grace the cover of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, and in 2018, she also became the first woman to earn a Guitar Performer of the Year nomination from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America, an honor she received again in 2019. And on ‘High Country Road Trip‘ she shows off that guitar playing alongside her mountain high clear vocals and does it alongside notable players: on mandolin- Sam Bush, Fiddle- Stuart Duncan, Bass- Barry Bales, Dobro- Josh Swift and on Banjo….ahem…none other than Bela Fleck.
‘High Country Road Trip‘ is an ode of joy to the delights of the open road – the delights of what might be coming ahead making up for any disappointments of the past – a blown-out gig for example. It’s taken at a speed limit challenging pace, with the whole band clearly having a great time. It’s also the latest in a series of singles from Rebecca Frazier, which certainly hints at there being a new album coming not too far down the road.
