Track Premiere: The Frisbys “I Heard”

The Frisbys are a six piece alt-folk band, with a country twist, from London.  Their name reflects less on an obsession with the hipster sport of Ultimate Frisby and more that the distinctive vocals are provided by band founders, and sisters, Helen Frisby (vocals, flute) and Nicola Frisby (vocals, acoustic guitar). Having started early as a singing duo the sisters expanded the band’s sound by recruiting college and University buddies, with the aim of making music in the same niche of Americana as the likes of The Lumineers.  ‘I Heard‘ is a song about standing up for oneself, as The Frisbys explain: “ ‘I Heard’ is a fighting song. It’s about maintaining an endless determination to push through, even when everyone is telling you that what you are trying to achieve is impossible. ‘I Heard’ is about having the belief to do it anyway.”

I Heard‘ comes from the upcoming EP ‘My Wicked Mind‘ which is out on 26th June.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
