Lockdowns – not a happy time for a lot of people. Young Martyrs are a four-piece from Bath & Bristol, which formed amid the lockdowns of 2020 – finding big rooms so they could keep their distance while making some much needed noise. Initially, it was a project put together just to keep four people sane while the world was losing its head, but by December that year the band had released a debut album. They’ve got a follow up now, ‘Time Is Not On Our Side’, which was recorded all together live at Real World in Bath with additional parts being added at Indefra in Frome where the first album was recorded. Young Martyrs say that their influences come from the likes of the Eagles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Ryan Adams & Fleet Foxes – and with a big nod to the songwriting of Del Amitri.
Young Martyrs are Tom Corneill, Rich Beeby and Lee Cole, with additional guitars from Simon Whitehead. ‘Never Gave You The Blues‘ features the vocals of Natalie Brice. The new album is released on the 6th of March.
