Two Cent Revival “Happy Hell” – listen to a confession of not caring

We’re getting off to an awesome start on Tracks this week – we’ve mentioned before that whilst all Tracks are good Tracks some are, you know….just that little bit better.  Here is a little bit better.  Born in Brazil, and now New York based, Matt Jones (aka Two Cent Revival) has produced an album full of superb songs – it’s called ‘Demons‘ and it is out on September 3rd.  ‘Happy Hell‘ is taken from it, and is an unrepentant confessional “I never did find a sin I didn’t enjoy doing / Oh my holy lord I think I know myself.”  Not only is it full of engagingly smart lyrics, it is also sonically impressive conjuring up open desert landscapes as well as urban tracts full of people and short on redemption.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
