Check out the uptempo ‘Measures’, the latest single from Edinburgh-based Boulder Fields. Boulder Fields is the musical moniker of Scottish singer-songwriter Cam Fraser, who has developed a fine blend of indie-folk, Americana and rock. The rhythmic track features a bright, tuneful strum from Fraser, whose distinctive vocal moves on catchy melodic currents, lifted by gentle harmonies in the chorus. Fraser is aided by a group of talented players, including Aly Barr on bass and Suzy Cargill on drums, both supplying those buoyant backing vocals.
‘Measures’ is taken from Boulder Fields’ debut album, ‘With All the Other Ghosts’, due out on 14th June via Scottish indie imprint Let There Be Numbers. Fraser says of the album process: “The album owes a lot to the very lovely guy who sat behind the mixing desk, Richie Werner at B&B Studios. As well as fretting about all the technical stuff and making sure he got the best possible sound out of all the instruments, Richie also fired up his studio’s old Hammond organ and played on a couple of songs.” The eleven, mostly acoustic, songs on the album are thoughtful reflections that demonstrate Fraser’s excellent song craft.
