Video: Chris Murphy “Separate Ways” Feat. Johnny Irion

The latest single from New York multi-instrumentalist Chris Murphy is full of drama.  ‘Separate Ways’ is a raw break-up song that captures and then releases all the complicated emotion we feel as a relationship unravels.  Featuring a strong beat and rhythmic fiddle-playing, the song is intense and moody, just like the video, which was created by Raegan McCain.  The dark atmosphere of the song is reinforced by Murphy’s distorted vocal performance and the searing electric guitar.

Earlier this year, Chris Murphy toured the UK in support of his well-received EP ‘The Red Road’ and audiences were won over by his powerful fiddle playing.  Fans in Europe will get to see him perform this autumn as he embarks on a tour to coincide with the release of ‘Sovereign Revisited’, a first release of the acclaimed album in the EU.  ‘Separate Ways’ is a bonus track on the re-release.  Murphy performs over 200 shows across the USA, UK and Europe annually and his energetic live performances are highly recommended – he plays with a flair and dynamism that demands your attention.  His songs cover the full range of human emotions and experiences, from love and loss to hope and fear, and he describes his music as being like, “…a live film score.”  The combination of compelling showmanship, breathtaking improvisation and tense, dramatic, narrative songs makes Chris Murphy captivating, both on stage and on record.  Enjoy.
