Video Premiere: Adam Esrick “Don’t Ask Me How I Know”

Check out the latest single from Scottsdale-based Adam Esrick.  ‘Don’t Ask Me How I Know’ is semi-autobiographical, a song that turns Esrick’s experiences into life lessons, delivered here in a well-shot, cinematic video that draws on those memories and the sense of looking back through the passage of time.  Esrick told AUK: “The idea for ‘Don’t Ask Me How I Know’ started as a sarcastic comment at a family dinner, but it turned into something more personal. Every line in the song has a story behind it—some I’ll admit to, some I probably won’t—but that’s part of the fun. It’s a highlight reel of my own missteps, told with a little grit and a lot of heart. The video really captures that balance—it doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it still feels honest. At the end of the day, it’s about owning your past, learning from it, and maybe even laughing at it.”

Esrick cites the likes of Springsteen, Petty and Sturgill Simpson as influences on his work and tells his stories through his ‘highway country rock’ style.  Lighter and rockier than his previous single, ‘Don’t Ask Me How I Know’ is built around Esrick’s melodic rock vocal, which has an engaging, gritty edge.  Written with longtime collaborator Billy Cioffi and produced by Evan Berg, ‘Don’t Ask Me How I Know’ is an energetic song with plenty of heart and soul and a catchy tunefulness.

This is Esrick’s second single release, following the more brooding ‘Single Malts & Double Vision’, and he is building towards the release of his first full-length album.  Look out for more of Esrick’s music throughout 2025.
