Video Premiere: Jax Hollow “Wolf in Sheepskin”

Nashville singer and guitarist Jax Hollow’s latest single is a striking piece of songwriting.  Her bright and twanging electric guitar throughout ‘Wolf in Sheepskin’ is outstanding and right at the heart of this song.  Constant touring can be a lonely way of life and ‘Wolf in Sheepskin’ tackles this theme in dynamic fashion.  Without a permanent home and regularly performing on commercial cruise ships, Hollow is really convincing as she sings: “I’m too feral for your heart // It’s just a waste of time.”  She’s a genuinely engaging performer and vocalist, especially when she lets loose in bursts of passion, announcing, “I’m better sleeping alone!”

Hollow says: “‘Wolf in Sheepskin’ was filmed on a retro-themed movie set in Phoenix, AZ by Tina Andrea. The song kicks off the record as the first track from ‘Only the Wild Ones’, and it showcases the raw emotions of living on the road as a full time artist/musician, as well as the feeling of never quite fitting the mold or conforming to what everyone else thinks you should be.”  In the video, Hollow bears her soul while wearing a wolf hat.

Look out for Hollow’s new record, ‘Only the Wild Ones’, due for release on 5th May.  The new album was recorded at The Sound Emporium and Music Row’s Sienna Studios in Nashville.  Hollow says of this unforgettable process: “What an incredible experience, in one of the best studios in the world. Juanita Copeland pulled me aside, telling me stories of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’ session in there, and then next thing I know she’s introducing me to Jason Isbell in the break room. I was over the moon.”  It’s adventurous, energetic and wonderfully catchy.  Enjoy.
